Traveling to Japan
If you are travelling directly to Kamakura we recommend that you fly to Haneda Airport (HND).
You can travel through Narita Airport as well, but is located on the opposite side of Tokyo. This will add ~1.5 hours to your trip to Kamakura.
We’ve had good experiences travelling Stockholm - Tokyo with Japan Airlines, Finnair, Emirates, SAS and Air China as well. Pick your favourite!
As spring is a popular time to travel to Japan due to the cherry blossoms blooming, we recommend that you book your tickets well in advance.
Traveling to Kamakura
Kamakura is located about 1 hour away from of Tokyo.
The station that you want to aim for is Kamakura Station
Type “Kamakura Station” into Google Maps or click the link above and you’ll be guided all the way there! Google maps works amazingly well to navigate through Japan’s metro system.
Approximate Travel Times:
Haneda Airport - Kamakura Station: ~1 hour
Narita Airport - Kamakura Station: ~2.5 hours
Shibuya Station - Kamakura Station: ~1 hour
Shinjuku Station - Kamakura Station: ~1 hour
Taking the scenic route
If you plan to go to Kamakura by train and you’re not in a hurry we highly recommend you to take the Enoden railway!
Enoden (Enoshima Electric Railway) is a charming railway line that is known for its retro atmosphere and scenic coastal route.
If you are travelling from Tokyo you can catch a train to Fujisawa station and change to the Enoden Railway there. The Enoden line will then take you to Kamakura Station.
The Enoden Railway starts at Fujisawa Station and will take you all the way to Kamakura Station.
If you are traveling from Tokyo, first take a train to Fujisawa Station and hop on the Enoden line there to Kamakura Station.

Shibuya Station -> Fujisawa Station -> Kamakura Station: ~2 hours
Shinjuku Station -> Fujisawa Station -> Kamakura Station: ~2 hours
